The Library: PS75’s well-stocked and professionally staffed library is the heart of our school. Students become acquainted with the library in Kindergarten through regular visits. Middle grade students visit more frequently and upper grade students use the library stacks and Internet-ready computers for independent research. Doors to the library open at 7:30AM for Early Bird Reading. We have a full time librarian with an SLMS license.
After School: PS75 administers a comprehensive, moderately priced, after school program. PS75 teachers and professionals from the community supervise enrichment programs in ceramics, art, science, tennis, basketball, theatre, dance, ice-skating, rock climbing, table tennis, chess and more. For children who need daily after school care, a daily after school program employing professional counselors featuring fun, games and homework is available from 2:40 to 6:00PM.
In School Drop-Off: Parents of lower grade children may escort their children directly to the classrooms. Kindergarten parents may enter the classroom with their children, easing the child’s transition to the school and fostering strong parent-teacher-student relationships. Publishing parties and field trips as well as Open houses for parents of upper grade students provide additional opportunities for interaction.
PTA-Funded Programs: An active PTA holds many fundraisers and family events throughout the year in order to provide enrichment opportunities for all students across entire grade levels. Such educational enhancements include: Ballroom Dancing lessons for every fifth-grade student, culminating in a performance and city-wide competition; in-classroom Chess, Swimming lessons for all second graders, kindergarten aides, Early Bird Reading, musical and cultural enrichment through performances and demonstrations as well as supplies for the library, art, science and music programs.
